Known as Califonia’s “gold rush” town, Placerville is a charming community of just under 10,400 people.

Where is Placerville Located?
It is located between the South Lake Tahoe, the city of Sacramento. It is accessible via U.S Highway 50 as well as State Highway 49. Placerville is situated in close proximity to a number of Historic Monuments, National Forests, Wineries and more. 

 A Brief History of Placerville
The history of Placerville began with the “rush for gold” to California in the 1840’s. The highly publicized discovery of gold in the tailrace section at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma in 1848 – which is approximately 10 miles from Placerville led to the migration of thousands of fortune-seekers to Northern California in the mid-1800’s.Placerville was named after the placer deposits found in the river bed between Spanish Ravine and the town plaza. During the gold rush, Placerville became an important supply center for the surrounding mining camps.

 What is the Community of Placerville Like?
The community o Placerville serves as a central hub for many programs and activities. Nearby landmarks and activities include Premier wineries, Apple Hill Ranches, Historic Coloma, the American River, and the El Dorado National Forest are all located within minutes of downtown Placerville.

 The city is a popular location for families of all sizes and is rich in green space, parks, and recreational activities. Throughout the area, there are a number of elementary, middle and high schools, as well as soccer fields and trails. This small town offers residents quiet living, with tree-lined streets and rivers, as well as many of the amenities that so many home buyers are looking for today, including shopping, dining, public transit, major highways and recreational opportunities.
