Are you considering doing some remodeling? Maybe you are simply hoping to do some updates in the coming year? Or, perhaps you are hoping to put new flooring down throughout your house, in hopes of giving it a more consistent look. Whatever you are planning on doing, if it involves flooring there are a few things that you need to know before you get started.

Here is a brief overview of the different kinds of flooring that are available, and where they can be installed.

Luxury Vinyl Flooring
Luxury vinyl flooring is a durable and on style kind of flooring that comes in wood and stone looks. This flooring is also designed to be moisture resistant and can handle the scratches and wear that most floors experience in family homes.

Where Can Luxury Vinyl Flooring be Installed?
Luxury vinyl flooring is an ideal style of flooring for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements. This is partially due to the fact that this flooring offers so much variation in style and design. Luxury vinyl flooring is one of the few kinds that can be installed anywhere within your house, without any major issues. There are even options that allow for an easy install right on top of subfloors.

Hardwood Flooring
Hardwood flooring is a beloved style that is coveted for its sophistication, timeless beauty and long-lasting durability. There are two kinds of hardwood flooring that you can choose from:  The first being engineered wood – which is stable and is layered construction with a wooden top and backing. The second being softwood which offers a variety of options and unbelievable durability.

Where Can Hardwood be Installed?
Hardwood flooring can be installed in pretty much any of the rooms in your home, (although it is not really recommended for laundry rooms, bathrooms or any other rooms that are subjected to a lot of humidity on a regular basis).  That said, engineered wood can be a stylish choice for basement installations.

Engineered Tile Flooring
Engineered tile flooring is made up of 70% limestone and other strong materials. It is in many ways the ideal alternative to the less durable options of porcelain, ceramic tile, and natural stone. Engineered tile flooring offers tons of charm and character, making it a great option for pretty much any room in your home.

Where can it be installed?
Engineered tiles are extremely versatile and can be installed basically anywhere in the home. This installation can be done with or without grout. It is ideal for areas in your home that are commonly exposed to moisture, such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and basements. These tiles can even be used on backsplash or accent walls.  Engineered tile can also be installed over minor subfloor irregularities without the risk of cracking.

Rigid Core Flooring

Maximum durability and gorgeous, award-winning designs and details are the trademarks of rigid core flooring. Ridgid core flooring has a unique layered structure that features beautiful attributes of multiple flooring types, including the popular styles of luxury vinyl and laminate.

Where can it be installed?
Rigid core flooring is the kind of flooring that can be enjoyed in pretty much any room of your home. It is designed to be durable enough for the areas with even the highest traffic and the most moisture exposure.
